More About This Website

Welcome to our blog! Here you can learn a little more about ShelleyAndKeith Photography-- who we are, what we do, and how we do it-- with plenty of images from our photographic adventures. You can see more wedding imagery on our PORTFOLIO SITE, www.shelleyandkeith.com

We photograph weddings in New Jersey, New York City, Connecticut, and Philadelphia, always working together as a team. For the start of the day, we can be in two locations to capture the preparation of bride and groom simultaneously. The rest of the day involves our practiced teamwork. After hundreds of weddings, we know how to capture moments from multiple angles simultaneously, which expands the storytelling power of our coverage. We have each won awards from the Wedding PhotoJournalist Association (WPJA), and also have an award from the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (AGWPJA). Our work has been published in Brides Magazine. We are a 2010 pick for The Knot's Best of Weddings.

We look forward to capturing the unique and subtle qualities of our couples, letting their relationship lead the way, with a minimum of posing. After all, the whole idea is to communicate the singular love story that is at the heart of a beautiful wedding day.

Meghan & Evan's Wedding at Liberty House

Meghan and Evan got married at Liberty House, in Liberty State Park. It was a mostly sunny day, but it was also February, and right by the mighty Hudson River, so outdoor activities were limited... But, they had a great day, enjoying their friends and family, and the hospitiality and service at this fine venue. We begin with some details that Shelley collected at Meghan's getting ready location:

And here's our gorgeous bride, lighting up the room:

Meanwhile, Keith is hanging with Evan and the guys at the apartment in Hoboken, where some toasting with JW Blue was in order:

Soon, the action moved to Liberty House, where Keith made a quick portrait of Meghan, looking amazing:

Time for the First Look, where bride and groom see each other for the first time, all polished up, and feeling the love:

And after a whole bunch of group shots, we asked Meghan and Evan to step outside for a super-quick series of portrait shots, with our photographic teamwork creating a lot of different looks, and Jersey City and NYC looming in the back:

For their ceremony, they made great use of candles and low light, creating a dramatic and intimate setting:

Keith was up front to get moments under the huppah, with Meghan showing a beautiful range of emotions and expressivity, we love this stuff:

Soon enough, our newlyweds make their excited exit:

February means short days, and soon the view of the city was in darkness, for a whole different kind of drama:

We love the setup for the reception, with tasteful lighting, careful details, and a creative cake design:

It's party time, with our newlyweds entering, and creating some beautiful moments during their first dance:

That's what it's all about! And next, let's have some chair dancing:

Using a super wide angle lens and our advanced digital cameras, we captured the scene using just the available light:

Musical entertainment was plentifully supplied by The Rhythm Shop:

They got the room moving, and some great fun ensued:

As you can see, it was a terrific party, with loads of photo ops to capture! We thank Meghan and Evan for such a great day, bringing all the warmth you could ever need for a day in February. We close with M&E back outside for a minute, creating memorable moments with the NYC skyline...

Leslie & Mike's Wedding at Stony Hill Inn

Not only did Leslie and Mike get married in December, they got married twice! Their day started at St. Joseph's  Church in East Rutherford, NJ, with a meaningful ceremony attended by their Maid of Honor, Best Man, and close families. The intimacy of this small gathering was beautiful to capture, especially in such a splendid setting. Here's Leslie arriving at the church:

and we got Mike's subtle expression as Leslie walked down the aisle:

Two more images from their church celebration:

Love the dove of peace right over Mike's head... It was classic and timeless, and just the right beginning for the day's adventures.

Now we go to Leslie getting ready for ceremony #2, switching to a stylish gown:

And just before leaving home, Leslie posed for Shelley with her appropriately dressed Best Dog:

Meanwhile, Keith was with the guys at a nearby hotel, where it was time for a toast:

And since Mike is an EMT, the guys arrived in a rescue truck at the next destination, the Stony Hill Inn:

Not to be outdone, Leslie arrived by fire truck soon after, with her girls:

and the girls were not about to be out-toasted either:

Then it was time for the second ceremony, this one attended by all their friends, family and  guests:

Lovely floral work by Petals Premier....

It was snowing like crazy, but we were crazy enough to go outside for a gazebo shot!

Meanwhile, the ballroom was reset beautifully for the reception to come:

A very impressive transformation that came together quickly. Here's an image from the first dance at the start of the reception:

Here's a fun portrait of Leslie & Mike with their cardboard painted counterparts, quite a foursome:

The party was big fun, with DJ services provided by Golden Note Entertainment. Two unique features in the party: one, the arrival of the Bergen County Firefighters Pipe Band, playing some rock classics to move the room-- you just have to hear "We Will Rock You" played by these guys:

And two, a great idea from the DJ's, some UV light combined with white gloves for everybody, a very cool effect:

All in all, an adventurous day with lots of love, creativity and fun for all! Thanks so much, Leslie and Mike!
