More About This Website

Welcome to our blog! Here you can learn a little more about ShelleyAndKeith Photography-- who we are, what we do, and how we do it-- with plenty of images from our photographic adventures. You can see more wedding imagery on our PORTFOLIO SITE, www.shelleyandkeith.com

We photograph weddings in New Jersey, New York City, Connecticut, and Philadelphia, always working together as a team. For the start of the day, we can be in two locations to capture the preparation of bride and groom simultaneously. The rest of the day involves our practiced teamwork. After hundreds of weddings, we know how to capture moments from multiple angles simultaneously, which expands the storytelling power of our coverage. We have each won awards from the Wedding PhotoJournalist Association (WPJA), and also have an award from the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (AGWPJA). Our work has been published in Brides Magazine. We are a 2010 pick for The Knot's Best of Weddings.

We look forward to capturing the unique and subtle qualities of our couples, letting their relationship lead the way, with a minimum of posing. After all, the whole idea is to communicate the singular love story that is at the heart of a beautiful wedding day.

Meghan & Greg at The Hyatt Morristown

We posted about the excellent engagement session we did with Meghan and Greg last November, and now it is our pleasure to present the story of their wedding day! A somewhat rainy day in May was no obstacle to this great couple, who had already made up their minds to have a great time... and that they did. We have a plethora of cool images here, and forgive us if we go a little long in our presentation-- believe it or not, this is a highly edited selection. So, after starting so many blog posts with the bride's preparation, this time we begin at their apartment, with the guys. Handsome groom Greg is a marathoner, and Keith made a spontaneous portrait with some framed memorabilia as a background:

The all-important rings were on hand, and the sparkle speaks for itself:

Leaving for the church, we took a minute to make a group shot, in the only existing patch of shade anywhere near this spot... sunglasses are cool, there's no debate:

Then we all bundled into the limo for a 40-minute ride to the church:

A great bunch of guys! Meanwhile, all the beautiful ladies were getting ready at Meghan's parents' house, where Shelley was on hand to collect some gorgeous details:

And our beautiful bride was adding finishing touches before leaving for the church:

Now the scene shifts to Zion Lutheran Church in Long Valley:

Shelley arrived with the girls, and had a few minutes to make some beautiful portraits of Meghan:

That's one gorgeous bride....and by the way, this bride is the artistic calligrapher behind Calligraphesque, a couture custom calligraphy service that is a 2011 pick for The Knot's Best of Weddings! Time for the ceremony, and here our photographic teamwork allowed multiple views of the events. For instance, here are 3 images of Meghan's processional:

We were asked to shoot the remainder of the ceremony from the balcony, which created some wide angle drama:

And here's a fun image of their exit after the ceremony:

Now we transport you to the Hyatt in Morristown, where, after a series of family photos, we took the bridal party out for a walk to a nearby park, with the weather cooperating:

And we had a few minutes with our newlyweds, enjoying each other:

How fun was that???? We're always happy to return to the Hyatt Morristown, always a smooth ride, and this time the ballroom lighting was enhanced by Elite Sound Entertainment, allowing us to collect some gorgeous room details before the party started, including tasteful flowers from The Floral Gallery:

Soon it was time for Meghan and Greg's triumphant entrance, and romantic first dance:

Delicious! The party included unlimited access to a very dangerous-looking cocktail (dangerous in a good way) called the Blue Hawaiian. Elvis was not sighted so far as we know, but on the other hand, we didn't have any Blue Hawaiians....

And then it was party time! Mikey B of Elite Sound got the room moving and kept it happening:

We had a great time working as a team to capture the action! Thanks so much to Meghan and Greg for a beautiful day and a fun party... We close with Shelley's gorgeous portait, where the body language says it all:

Meghan & Evan's Wedding at Liberty House

Meghan and Evan got married at Liberty House, in Liberty State Park. It was a mostly sunny day, but it was also February, and right by the mighty Hudson River, so outdoor activities were limited... But, they had a great day, enjoying their friends and family, and the hospitiality and service at this fine venue. We begin with some details that Shelley collected at Meghan's getting ready location:

And here's our gorgeous bride, lighting up the room:

Meanwhile, Keith is hanging with Evan and the guys at the apartment in Hoboken, where some toasting with JW Blue was in order:

Soon, the action moved to Liberty House, where Keith made a quick portrait of Meghan, looking amazing:

Time for the First Look, where bride and groom see each other for the first time, all polished up, and feeling the love:

And after a whole bunch of group shots, we asked Meghan and Evan to step outside for a super-quick series of portrait shots, with our photographic teamwork creating a lot of different looks, and Jersey City and NYC looming in the back:

For their ceremony, they made great use of candles and low light, creating a dramatic and intimate setting:

Keith was up front to get moments under the huppah, with Meghan showing a beautiful range of emotions and expressivity, we love this stuff:

Soon enough, our newlyweds make their excited exit:

February means short days, and soon the view of the city was in darkness, for a whole different kind of drama:

We love the setup for the reception, with tasteful lighting, careful details, and a creative cake design:

It's party time, with our newlyweds entering, and creating some beautiful moments during their first dance:

That's what it's all about! And next, let's have some chair dancing:

Using a super wide angle lens and our advanced digital cameras, we captured the scene using just the available light:

Musical entertainment was plentifully supplied by The Rhythm Shop:

They got the room moving, and some great fun ensued:

As you can see, it was a terrific party, with loads of photo ops to capture! We thank Meghan and Evan for such a great day, bringing all the warmth you could ever need for a day in February. We close with M&E back outside for a minute, creating memorable moments with the NYC skyline...
