Alison & Michael at Bridgewater's, South Street Seaport
Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 04:16PM Our September adventures continue, this time with a trip to Manhattan, for Alison and Michael's big day. We always welcome a chance to shoot in the city, for all the obvious reasons: locations, history, storytelling opportunities, and rich details. Combine all that with a great couple like A&M, and you have the ingredients for a memorable occasion.
Shelley started at On The Avenue, where Alison was getting ready:

Beautiful girl, beautiful gown, beautiful shoes... Put 'em all together and you get one beautiful bride:

Next is the ceremony at Holy Trinity Church, with its impressive edifice:

Keith got this image of our flower girl, patiently awaiting Alison's arrival. Her parents thought ahead, and supplied some diversions for the ceremony to come, a smart idea:

The church interior includes a wrap-around balcony, and Shelley was working the available angles up there, while Keith was downstairs:

This photographic teamwork really amplifies the storytelling in a great location like this... Keith got the classic kiss and recessional in dramatic black and white:

The guests left the church for a leisurely ride on a double-decker bus headed downtown. Fortunately, the weather held up fine and they had a scenic journey:

Meanwhile, we rode in the limo to South Street Seaport, where we spent some time making spontaneous portraits, really just moving between locations, letting their body language tell the story:

We walked out to Pier 17 and made a great portrait with the Brooklyn Bridge as backdrop:

And we made this shot with the tall ships and city skyline creating some drama. It all came together quickly, since Alison & Michael wanted to get back to greet their guests at the cocktail hour:

Their beautiful party was at Bridgewater's, right in the South Street Seaport complex, a gorgeous space with great details and views of the Brooklyn Bridge and surroundings:

During the toasts, we were able to catch some nice moments, especially while Michael was "roasted" by his friends:

The party was fun, with our bride and groom enjoying the company of friends and family:

And we close with this moment from late in the party. Sometimes one simple black and white image says it all:
