Connie & Donald at Planting Fields Arboretum
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 08:29PM On a perfect day in September, we traveled to Long Island for Connie & Donald's wedding at the beautiful Planting Fields Aboretum in Oyster Bay. With a 2PM ceremony outside, the sun was blazing overhead, but everyone kept their cool, including our bride and groom:

Following the ceremony, we found a shaded area to make group photos... There were important family relationships to show, and we appreciated all the cooperation. We even had a group of 41 people in one shot-- now that's family!
After that we spent some time with Connie & Don strolling the grounds and making casual portraits. On our way to the first location, there was some beautiful light on Connie's gown, and we made this image in about ten seconds:

We took advantage of available locations, not really posing, but suggesting ideas, and letting their own relationship tell the story:

We see again and again, that by giving our couples the space to be themselves, we wind up with images that say something unique. Seems like that's the whole idea, yes?
Then it was back to the LIE for a ride into Queens to the Jade Asian Restaurant, an inviting venue with an amazing range of culinary delights. The reception was fun, with a joyous vibe supplied by their guests:

Part way through the evening, Connie changed into the traditional Asian style dress, and she looked just as amazing! We loved how the colors all worked together, and the blend of cultural traditions was seamless:

The DJ set up this shot of everyone on the dance floor, this is when it's good to have a really wide angle lens:

All in all, a very successful day, with great locations, weather, food and guests... Thanks and congratulations to Connie and Don!
